Creating your Own Profile

The profile is the member's ticket to being introduced to friends and luring date prospects. The profile is a gist of the member's overall personality; this means that interests, preferences, habits, and likes and dislikes are listed in a profile. The primary user is not obligated under any circumstances to answer all fields, but keep in mind that others would want to have an idea who or what kind of character or image they are dealing with, especially when they are thinking of being linked, romantically or otherwise, to the user.

At the beginning of the main page, members could have the option of pronouncing themselves to the site by making a headline, shout-out or a one-liner quote or motto that best describes them or what they feel like at that particular moment. This can be substantiated by the information in the “About Me” section where members can summarize how they see themselves in relation to other people. Then, they can proceed to the “Who I'd Like to Meet” box where they jot down the qualities and other traits they are looking for in a site member as a new friend or date. The “Interests” part gives a deeper insight into the preferences and hobbies of the members, including but not limited to favorite music, movies, television shows, and books. Within this area, members could also freely incorporate other tools to spice up their profile like images, photos, videos, colors, and themes.

The “Background” and “Lifestyle” part could be said to contain comparatively intimate or sensitive information about members. In this section, members are asked to fill out some things about their education, work, ethnicity, religion, and gender. Here, the site also lets members tick off options if they drink or smoke, and if they are currently available and single, married, divorced, in a relationship, or a swinger. Although some free social networking sites have linked this to the home profile, members can actually choose to skip answering or viewing this part.

The optional sections of each free social networking site are unique and vary from one site to another. However, it is best that members make their profile as informative as possible to leave out questions and doubts in date prospect's mind. Plus, once they complete their information, they can fully enjoy the perks of participating in a free social networking site. After doing their part, they can now go ahead and actualize their reasons they joined in the first place – to connect to friends and meet dates.
